What
is
gelato?
Gelato
is
Italian-style ice cream, made with milk rather than lots of cream.
Ours contains less than 5 percent butterfat. Compare
that to premium factory made ice cream with a 12 to 18%
butterfat content!
Our
sorbettos (most of our fruit
flavours) contain no
milk products at all and are essentially fat free. They are a
good choice for anyone who is lactose intolerant.
Another
major
difference
which
sets gelato apart from regular ice cream is the
much lower air content of the
product. Ice cream contains as much as 50 to 60
percent air, so most of what you pay for is air! Our gelato, on
the
other hand, is much more dense and only contains 20 to 25 percent
air.
As
a
result
of
the
lower
air and fat content, the generous inclusion of all-natural ingredients, and a
slightly higher serving temperature, gelato
has a much more intense
flavour than regular ice cream.
